August 20, 2015 Isafjordur Iceland
This is our last Iceland port. When I woke up the sky was overcast and there was occasional drizzle. After 3 perfect days I guess we were due for bad weather.
I was on a private tour to Dynjandi waterfall. The drive to the falls took 2 hours. First we went through a very long tunnel under a mountain. Next was a drive around a fjord and, finally, over a mountain on a dirt and gravel road. No guardrails made for a scary ride. When we got there we had 1/2 hour to hike and take pictures. Across the fjord we got to see a large rainbow. Then back in the van to head back to the ship. The trip was worth it but I was a little toured-out after the last 3 days so I was glad to get back to the ship. When we got back the rain was very strong so I just got back on the ship.
We were told that overnight and tomorrow would be rough. It is now 7am and we are doing a lot of rolling side to side. Today is a sea day and tomorrow we are scheduled to cruise Prince Christian Sund again. Our next port is Nanotalik Greenland on Sunday.
At 10am the Captain just told us that the swells are 4-5 meters. When I look out I see sky and then quickly only see the sea. We were told it will get better later this afternoon.
I hope the seas calm down for you!

45 meters?!?! Or 4-5 meters?

Swells were 4-5 meters…not bad since they were on our stern most the time.

Sounds like you have had some good private tours, even with long travel times to the final destination. Swells sound like the ones we had in Antarctica.
