July 14, 2016 – Taos and Santa Fe
We left the hotel at 8am for Taos Pueblo. It was a beautiful drive on the Turquoise Highway. We arrived at 10:15am followed by a stampede to the restrooms. At 10:30 we started our guided tour. It is one of the oldest continuous communities in the U.S and a UNESCO World Heritage Site . There are no modern improvements (electric, running water …) so only about 60 people live there year round. All the homes are made of adobe. Some buildings are 3 and 4 stories high. Many buildings are now shops selling crafts.
After Taos Pueblo we drove to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge which is the 7th highest bridge in the US. It is a flat bridge over a deep gorge which surprised many of us.
After the bridge we went to Taos where we had time to roam around the town.
Back in Santa Fe, we printed boarding passes for tomorrow and then had our final dinner as a group.
When I get home I’ll post a final review of this trip and tell you when and where I am off to next.
Thanks for following me on this trip.
