February 26, 2018 – Quito to Galapagos islands
We left Quito at 4:20am EST for the airport. Our flight left at 6:50 and we arrived on Baltra Island in the Galapagos at 9:10am CST.  We were met by Juan,  our  group leader for the Galapagos. Fatima, unfortunately,  had to stay in Quito.
We traveled by bus to the pier and took a 5 minute ferry ride to Santa Cruz Island.  Loaded onto to buses we traveled cross the island to Porto Ayora and we were transported to our home for the week the “Alya”. The ship is beautiful and the staterooms are bigger than on a cruise ship.
After lunch and siesta time, we returned to the island and visited the Darwin Research center. We learned all about the giant tortoise breeding program.  After we walked through the town.  I joined the group going to a local brewpub where we had Galapagos coffee stout.
Back on  the ship, we had a lifevest drill followed by dinner.

Note – I will post the rest when I get home on March 7th.
