September 20 & 21, 2018 – Venice
We had a beautiful sail-in to Venice. We went right by St. Marks Square. They opened the bow so I got a prime spot up in the front.
I left the ship at 1:30 and the temperature was in the high 80s. I took a water bus to St. Marks Square. Trying to get away from the crowds I set out to go over the Accademia bridge. I never found it. I got lost. I couldn’t read my map because I left my reading glasses on the ship. I was really hot and decided to head back to the ship. Following signs I finally arrived back at St Marks. I couldn’t find where the boat to get back to the cruise terminal left from. It took another 45 minutes but I finally found the boat and got back to the ship at 4:30pm. I have studied the map and will do better tomorrow.
At 6pm I played trivia with the British couple who will be staying on the ship until Rome. We won for the 3rd time. Tomorrow we will be searching for 2 Aussies to replace the two who are leaving the ship.
A little over 300 passengers out of the 1900 are staying on for 12 more days. My last dinner with Kim, Bill, Ann, and Barry was bittersweet. I have never had as a good a time at dinner as i had on this cruise. I hope my next table mates are as much fun.
September 21, 2018 – Venice Day 2
I went to bed at 10pm last night so I was awake at 4am. I had a leisurely breakfast I the dining room. After finishing I went to the top deck to watch everyone leaving. The last passengers disembarked at 9:30am. I got my camera and headed out at 10am. I decided to walk to Campos Set. Magurite in Dosoduro. As I walked I saw Judy and Sam, a couple that I met in the casino. Further down the line, Kim, Bill, Ann, and Barry were waiting for the boat to St Marks. When I got to the end of the parking lot I found I had walked the wrong way. Turned around and found the correct way. Once I crossed them first canal, I made my way directly to my destination. I wandered round the area before picking a pizzeria for lunch. Yum! Pizza and beer. The pizza was too big so I left 1/3 of it. I headed back to the ship with no missteps. In all I walked a little over 6 miles.
1600 new people have boarded. Those of us on Cruisecritic.com got together to discuss the tours we set up. I met the people i will tour with in Naples and Malta.
We sail out at 5pm and tomorrow we will be in Split, Croatia. I am meeting my friend Ivana for coffee at 11am.
Sorry that this took 2 days to post but Venice was too much fun.

  1. When I was in Venice August 1-2 on Undiscovered Adriatic it was over 100 degrees. Have been there in March, and it snowed! One of my very favorite places.
