October 1, 2018 – Palermo, Sicily
Today was “Cathedral Day”. I took a ships tour that first took us to Monreale to see their Cathedral. The inside is covered in mosaics that tell the story’s of the bible. Our guide was very good at explaining what each panel showed. Next we returned to Palermo to see the Cathedral there. It was the opposite of Monreale – Palermo’s is beautiful on the outside and fairly plain on the inside while Monreale was plain on the inside but very beautiful on the inside. Before returning to the ship the bus took us on a tour of Palermo.
Tomorrow we are in Naples. I am doing a tour of Herculaneum, Ravello, and Positano. I may not blog until I get to Florence on October 3. Tomorrow night will be final packing and goodbyes. On Wednesday my train adventure starts. I am looking forward to spending a few days in one spot.
