October 12, 2018 – Lucerne to Basel
I had a last walk around the neighborhood by the hotel before we left for Basel. The bus picked us up at 11 and we got to Basel at 12:30pm. Our ship was parked next to a Viking ship. They look to be about the same size.
After checking in, we had lunch on board. They had buses going into Basel at 2, 3 and 4 pm returning at 3:30, 4:30, and 5:30pm. It was 80 degrees out so Carol and I took the 3pm in and the 3:30pm bus back. We had just enough time to go to the TI office and get maps of the city.
Back on board we walked around to find all the amenities on board. There is a sauna, Jacuzzi, fitness center, and massage room on the 2nd deck. On the 3rd deck is a large lounge and bar up front and a restaurant in the back. The top deck has both covered and uncovered areas with chairs and loungers.
Dinner was fun but because we got there late we needed to split up. Carol and Tom sat at one table and I sat at another. Carol had received a bottle of champagne so she sent a glass over to me. It was a very enjoyable dinner.
After dinner they had “Relaxing music by Milos” in the lounge. Only a few of us from the pre-trip were there. Most of the 141 passengers had flown in today and were sound asleep by 9pm.
Tomorrow we have a walking tour of Basel.
To the Mallonee family: Brian should have turned 69 today. Hug your loved ones today.

What ship are you on? I’ve only been on Viking and they don’t have the sauna, etc. Enjoying your blog once again.

The cabin looks like a Grand Circle ship but I sure have never seen a sauna, etc on one.
