I am on the Grand Circle Travel tour called “Romance of the Rhine and Mosel”. Our ship is the “River Melody”. Yes, it does have a sauna but due to the unusually hot weather, I am not sure that anyone will use it.
We had a walking tour of Basel in the morning followed by 1 1/2 hour free time in the old town. It is very different than Lucerne. Very few tourists other than those getting on or off a river cruise. In the afternoon was a talk about Switzerland.
Tonight was our welcome dinner. Carol was invited to the Captain’s table.
We got the details of our deviation due to part of the river being impassable. It looks like 2 nights in a hotel but not missing anything in the itinerary. 6 days on the River Melody, 2 nights in a hotel in Luxembourg then 6 days on the River Rhapsody.
We have gone through 3 locks by 9pm. It is fun to watch.
This afternoon we head to Strasbourg, France.
