Posted by October 17, 2018 – Castle cruise on the Rhine
We left our new ship this morning and took the mini-train to a boat that can maneuver through the shallow waters of the Rhine. For 2 1/2 hours we saw beautiful old castles, quaint towns, and hillside vineyards. At 11:30am we arrived at Boppard.
Simone took us on a quick walk to help us get our bearings and then we were set loose to get lunch and see the town. We found that most restaurants were closed for the season. We finally found a small restaurant where we had a nice lunch. At 2:15pm we met and set out to board the buses. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive to Luxembourg but we had a pit stop after 1.5 hours.
We are staying at the Hilton Double Tree in Luxembourg for 3 nights. Our luggage had been trucked up here thus morning so I was surprised when It was not in my room. It arrived 45 minutes later at 6:45pm.
At 7pm we left to go to a restaurant. We have 135 people so it is amazing they were able to find hotel rooms and a restaurant that could accommodate us. GCT has been amazing.
Tomorrow we will go to Berncastle and try some Mosel wines.
