March 8, 2019 – Barcelona
Last night I packed my bag and at 7am this morning put it out when I went for breakfast. At 8:45am we all gathered to verify that our bags were on the bus before leaving for the Palau de la Musica (Palace of Music).
The Palau de la Musica is an Art Nouveau concert hall built in the early 1900’s. It was constructed of steel and glass. It is privately owned. They rely on ticket sales, donations, and tourism (guided tours) to keep the place running. They had over 600 concerts last year. Many different musicians have concerts here.
After our tour of the Palau, we walked for an hour and a half through the El Born district of Barcelona. As we walked to the bus we passed many demonstrators who were marching for The International Day of Women. All of the cities unions had announced a strike for today so that both me and women could march.
At noon we were able to board our ship – the ms. Corinthian. We are now 93 travelers divided into 4 groups. The afternoon was spent unpacking, getting to know the ship, and meeting new people.
Tonight I’ll only post a few pictures from the Palau. I’ll add more tomorrow after we leave Barcelona. We are docked tonight next to a building which is affecting the internet speed.
