June 11, 2019 – Frederick Sound
I woke up early and ate breakfast in the Lido. There were 2 excursions for today. One went to an Alaskan Native Village leaving at 7:30a. The excursion I chose was Whale watching. As we went down the ramp from the Maasdam to the tour boat, it was raining and windy. The boat had 3 levels but the 3rd was only open when we stopped. The other 2 levels were enclosed with large windows. The captain spotted a humpback whale so he took us there and we watched it spout and dive. All of the time there it was rainy so I didn’t get any pictures. Federal law will only allow a boat to follow a whale for 30 minutes so we moved to another spot where it was not raining. There were at least 6 whales at that spot.
We got back to the ship at 11am.
I went to the Pinnacle Grill for the Sel de Mer dinner. As usual, it was great food but more than I could eat.
