December 31, 2019 – Los Angeles CA
Another early morning with the bus leaving at 7:30am. We went to the Skirball Cultural Center to hear Dr. Tommy Cairns give a lecture on “How Floats are Judged”. He was very funny and very informative.
The rest of the day was spent at the Getty Museum. When we parked, they said the wait for the tram was 40 minutes so I decided to walk up. It was 3/4 mike long and steeper than I thought. It took me 20 minutes with a few rest breaks. The museum and grounds are beautiful. They had a special Manet exhibit that was really good.
Back at the hotel, some new friends and I went to the bar for a New Year’s Eve drink before dinner. We had a nice steak dinner. We were given hats and noise makers and we watched the CNN coverage of NY until the ball dropped at 9pm. Then we were sent off to bed.
