March 1, 2020 – Home
I have been home a full week. My flight home was uneventful. I arrived at my apartment 22 hours after waking up at 3am in Bergen. I am finally getting over my jetlag. The pictures accompanying this entry were all taken by Peter Szivolt who was our team leader and gave me permission to post them. These are the Northern Lights that I slept through.
I am still on schedule to leave for Egypt on April 6th. Vantagetravel.com is monitoring the coronavirus situation. Hoping we get to go and see stay healthy.
February 21, 2020 – Bergen
Overnight the sea was very rough. By breakfast, it had calmed down a little. At 9am they announced that it would be very rough for the next few hours. We had to vacate our cabins by 10am. Most of us went to the room where Peter gave his lectures. We were able to leave our carry on bags there.
Peter showed us the 36 photos that were submitted for the photo contest. We all voted for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
The ship was really rolling. No one got sick but some didn’t look well. At 11:30am, eight of us went to lunch. The dining room did not have many people in it.
Finally at 1pm the seas calmed down. Peter had the contest results. Jim won 1st place with a great picture of the northern lights.
We arrived in Bergen at 2:30pm on time and were in our hotel by 3pm. The hotel has a waffle maker that any guest can use from 3pm to 6pm. Peter told us they were delicious. After putting our bags in our room many of us made a waffle. The Norwegians put sour cream and marmalade on them. They were yummy.
We had our last dinner and said our goodbyes.
