We left our hotel at 9am and headed for San Sébastien. The drive took an hour and a half. It started raining soon after we left Bilbao. Upon arrival, it was still raining but very lightly. We spent time putting up our umbrellas and then taking them down. King Alphonse 12th used San Sébastien as his summer home. First we walked up to his house. It isn’t open and the outside could use some work but it is still an impressive house.
From there we walked the promenade to the old city. We had an hour to wander on our own. We found a wonderful toy store that had jigsaw puzzles, models, and 3-D machines to assemble. When we reconvened,we headed first to a fruit and vegetable open market and then to the fish and meat market. Incredible displays of the fish.
We had lunch at a local restaurant. It was the best meal of the whole trip. We had 4 small dishes to start followed by hake on a potato and onion base.
Back to Bilbao for a rest before going out for a evening glass of wine. We proceeded to cross the river in search of pizza. We finally found a place at 730pm that would seat us but we had to leave by 9pm. At 845pm when we left the sidewalks were covered with people drinking wine and eating snacks.
Back at the hotel we packed because tomorrow we move to Santander.

At a rest stop we ran into Albert Einstein
