July 5th was one of only two sea days on this trip. We had whale lectures and trivia games to keep us amused.
Tomorrow is Torshavn in the Faroe Islands.
Here are the answers to some questions you’ve asked.
Onboard, the buffets are not self-serve. They dish the food out for you. At the hotel, it was self-serve.
Masks aren’t mandatory. We were tested before boarding the ship. On land, I wear one in museums and crowded places to be safe.
The rainbow road is in the tourist section to show acceptance of LGBTQ people.
I have no idea what kind of bird it is.
The homes in Iceland are heated by geothermal heat pumped in by the government. In Heimaey, they used to use the heat from the lava field, In the 1980s, the fields cooled so they installed a heat pump and use sea water heated up for home heating and electricity. They produce 3 kilowatts for every one kilowatt hour used by the pump. House are build of wood and corrugated metal.
Thanks for taking the time to answer questions, Elsie. Hope everyone on your trip stays Covid-free.
