IThe sea day yesterday was filled with lectures and an hour of bingo. The sea was rough so lunch was switched from buffet to a served meal. We had a passenger Talent Show after dinner.
Today we were in Wilmington N.C. The port was a commercial port so you could only go out on an official bus. I chose a tour of a historic house. We went to the Latimer House and had a tour for 1 1/2 hours. It was interesting but too long. After they drove us through downtown and back to the port. We could go back into town after lunch but I decided to just stay on the ship. Four of us got together and played bridge.
We had an unexpected meeting at 6pm with the captain. He told us about a storm in the Atlantic that is causing concern. We are going to Charleston SC tomorrow but will be leaving right after we return to the ship. We will skip our stop at Amelia Island and head for Freeport, Bahamas. The captain feels this will avoid the worst of the storm.
I am changing planes in Charlotte NC and hope the weather doesn’t mess up my flights.

  1. Yes, I just checked the weather forecast, and you are now facing a named subtropical storm, Nicole, which is expected to hit the Bahamas early Wed. I’m not sure when you are planning to fly out, but the storm should have passed the Bahamas by late Thu. or Fri. I experienced a number of tropical storms the 8 years was in Florida. Some were no more severe than many of our thunderstorms, but they can spawn tornadoes and rip branches from trees, so stay inside, preferably on land and somewhat inland! Cheers, Jane
