After a hearty breakfast, we walked downtown and hiked through Lithia Park. The park is very big. The treed paths take you past open green fields, play areas for children, tennis courts, and ponds. There are bridges to cross the creek which dissects the park. Children were keeping cool by playing in the creek. We sat by one pond and watched turtles sunning on the rocks and ducks floating by.
We were on our way back to our rental around noon when we decided that we weren’t hungry but that some ice cream would be good. BJ’s ice cream is Ashland has many flavors and the ice cream is house-made. This is a must stop in Ashland.
Once again, during the hot afternoon hours, we stayed at the rental. The front porch had a nice breeze so we sat out there until the sun encroached. Moving indoors, we played UNO until it was time to leave for dinner.
We had tickets to have dinner and see Kinky Boots at the Oregon Cabaret Theater. The theater is housed in a old church. We all had the Fish And Chips entree which was delicious. The production was excellent. Both male leads had great singing voices. I had seen the Broadway traveling Company in San Francisco and this company was comparable to that.
As we were exiting the theater, we were stopped due to a black bear just outside going through a garbage can. A neighbor came out banging a pot and the bear ran away. We made it to my car and home safely.
