September 20, 2023 – Vienne

Last night we learned that there were three versions of the “walking tour of Vienne “ – leisurely, regular, and active.  They said only the active tour would take us to the panoramic viewpoint above the town. We switched to the active tour.
The tours started at 9:30am.  We headed out at a quick pace. After meandering through a few blocks, we came to the start of the hill.  It was very steep and there were no level places.  Most made it to the top without a stop but I occasionally had to stop to catch my breath and wait until my pulse slowed.  It was well worth the effort.  The view was great. I had my trekking poles and they really protected my knees on the way down.
We saw one of only two Roman temples in France.  The other is in Nice.  We, also, went by the oldest church in France built in the 6th century ad.
Back on the ship we had lunch. The ship took off at 2pm to head to Toulon.
During the afternoon we played bridge with a British couple we met. They got all the cards so we lost.
After dinner there was a  Music trivia game. My team won a bottle of sparkling wine.
