I had a 725pm flight from SFO to LAX. We arrived on time to LAX at 845pm. My flight to San Salvador didn’t leave until midnight. At 11pm they started preloading. There were 45 people requiring wheelchairs and another 10 or so who were ambulatory but needed extra time. I was surprised at how fast they loaded all of them. I got on at 1130pm. We arrived in San Salvador at 7am. I got only 2 hours of sleep. My “ priority” bag was one of the last to come out. I found Walter, our OAT guide, right outside. It was a 1 hour ride to our hotel. We are only here for one night. It is in Surf City which Walter says has great surfing.
I had breakfast and hung out by one of the swimming pools until check-in at 2pm. Most of the group is arriving at 330pm and the last 2 arrive around 9pm. I was the only 7am arrival. I was told to check-in early I’d have to pay $25 per hour. Not worth it!
This OAT tour is called Route of the Maya. We will learn about and visit sites where the Mayan lived in El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Belize.
The pretrip 4 days has 8 of our final group of 15 people. We took a nice walk around town ending at the ocean to see the sunset. We enjoyed a nice seaside dinner at the hotel. WJ and Lauranne will be arriving about 9pm. I will probably be asleep by then.
Tomorrow, we move on to Suchitoto.

I was on that trip and liked it very much
Enjoy and be safe
