APRIL 3, I arrived at my hotel at 10pm. The flight was delayed 4 hours due to storms in Florida. I went to sleep immediately.
APRIL 4, On Thursday morning, I walked to the shopping plaza near the hotel to pick up a few things I needed. It was very cloudy and warm. After returning to the hotel, I sat by the pool and read my book. For dinner I went to a nearby Spanish restaurant where I had fish tacos. The whole menu was Mexican food.
APRIL 5, This morning at 11 am I had a Lyft ride to the port. As a 5-star mariner on Holland America, I get to board in the first group. When we got on board at noon, the cabins weren’t ready so we were directed to go to the Lido for lunch. At 130pm, we got the notice that the staterooms were ready. I went to my favorite bar and when I sat down the bartender said “welcome back Elsie”. She was the bartender on my November cruise and remembered me.
We didn’t sail until 7:30pm. My dinner time was 730pm and I’m at a table for eight. Two sisters were the only others at my table.
After dinner I went to the casino and two of the dealers remembered me from November. They still call me Lucky Lady even though so far I haven’t been so lucky.
At the Singles and Solo meet up, I found a bridge partner. Steve is from San Diego. We both play simple conventions only.
APRIL 6, First full sea day. I walked my laps, read a book, and met lots of people. The Intermediate Bridge class was was very interesting and Steve and I played duplicate in the afternoon. Because half of the players didn’t know how to score, we don’t know how we fared but we made all our bids. Entertainment tonight was a British singer/comedienne. She was great. Her finale was singing the song from Titanic while wearing a life vest.
APRIL 7, We set our clocks forward an hour last night. It was the first of 6 time changes we have to make. The next loss of an hour is tonight. Played duplicate bridge again. We had 8 tables playing. I don’t think we did very well. Tonight is the first “Dressy” night. I switch to Black flats rather than walking shoes and wear a necklace to jazz up normal outfits.
