Posted by Originally I had a flight into San Diego this morning but after hearing about fog delays at Christmas, I switched to coming in a day visit early. (Good thing, my original flight was delayed.) I found The Guild Hotel which was an easy visit walk to the ship.
I arrived at the Holland America ms Zaandam at visit 1115am and boarded immediately. At noon, they had a meet up for 4 and 5 star mariners in the Crows Nest. I sent my friend Steve a message and we met back up at 1245pm. We got our dining arrangements combined so we’ll eat together throughout the cruise.
We have open dining and the first night joined a table with 4 other guests at 530pm. Service was very slow so we are going to try a little earlier or later from now on. We went to the Pride and friends Meeting. It was a group of 14 or more. A very fun group. Andy and Gordon have agreed to play bridge with us tomorrow.
Changed our clocks to MST tonight.
January 4th – At Sea
Steve and I played bridge in the morning now with 2 Canadian women. They were quite good. In the afternoon, we played with Andy and Gordon.
It was a “dressy” night at dinner with a wonderful menu. I had escargot, rack of lamb, and creme brulee.
We went to see the dance show. It was one I’ve seen before. I’ll skip the others.
January 5 – Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
I took the “Salsa and Salsa” excursion. We took a bus to a resort. We arrived and were given a glass of lemonada. We were there for 3 hours and learned to dance the Salsa but also made 6 different salsas and 2 different margaritas . They served fresh chips, quesadillas, and taquitos to each with our salsas. The two women instructors were excellent at talking us through the food prep steps as well as the dance steps. It was a very fun morning. I highly recommend this tour. We got copies of the recipes before we left.
The ship sailed out at 230pm so that we will arrive on time tomorrow to Puerto Vallarta.
The show tonight is a comedian. He wasn’t very good so Ieft early. Tonight we do our second time change to CST.
