Today is our last real port, Cartagena , Columbia. We docked at 11am. I was on an excursion called Cartagena Sightseeing and Local Street Food Tasting. We boarded a bus and went across the city to the Fortress where we stopped for photos. The bus took us to the Old Town where we started our walking tour. We saw colorful streets and houses. We went through in Inquisition Museum and then the Cathedral. Our first street food was a cup of tropical fruits while learning about the people of Cartagena. Next we went to a Cafe and had fresh brewed Columbian coffee. We walked through the Portal de Los Dulces where women sell sweets. We sampled 3 different ones. Our final stop was a restaurant where we had Corozo juice and Arepa de Huevo. The juice was like cranberry juIce. The Arepa was a corn meal patty that was fried and stuffed with an egg. It was very good. We got back on our bus and headed back to the ship. It appeared that all the tour busses returned at the same time so there was a long line to get back on the ship.
Tonight I went to the Morimoto Dinner and it was delicious. I’ve now done it on 3 now cruises and really enjoy it.
The next 2 days are sea days. On Friday, we stop at Holland America’s private island, Half Moon Cay. Saturday we disembark and I fly home. I’ll do one more post when I am home.
