Today was very busy. In the morning our tour leader, Stephen Cole, gave a talk about writing for the theater. Stephen has written 14 shows that have been produced. He told us many stories and showed us clips of people singing his songs. One funny song was sung by Christine Baransky.

We went to lunch at Sardi’s. This is the restaurant known for its framed caricatures of important Theater people. We had a delicious lunch.

We went to see “Purpose” which has 10 Tony nominations. It is a play about a Chicagoland political family dinner where many secrets are revealed. It was excellent.

I went to a restaurant for a light dinner. I sat at the bar and talked to the people next to me about what shows they had seen. It was fun.

I went to see Buena Vista Social Club. This, too, was nominated for 10 Tonys. It is based on the 1966 recording of original Cuban music. It was great. The music and dancing had me rocking in my seat. I am glad I decided to see this on my own.
