Sea days

Sunday July 26, 2015 and Monday July 27, 2015

Yesterday (Sunday), I skipped the wine tasting and went to the Geologist lecture.   Very  interesting.

Had my first Thermal Suite  visit.  It was great since I was the only person there. Found out only 4 people have signed up.

I’m doing Anytime Dining and was told 7:30 is the best time to go.  There was no wait to be seated.

We are tendering at 6 ports.  4 and 5 star Mariners go to the Ocean Bar for tender tickets while everyone else goes to the Wayan Theater for their tickets.

There are 500+ 4 and 5 star Mariners so many events are being  split into 2 or 3 groups.

The location lecturer, Barbara, did a great presentation about Corner Brook and Red Bay.  In addition to info on the towns she warned us about bugs.  Future VOV cruisers should make sure they pack insect repellent.  The ship sold out of their supply.

Tonight is the first of 4 Gala nights for the first half of the cruise.

Today (Monday) was very busy.  After the port lecture, I attended a cocktail party, played trivia,  attended a wine tasting, andwent to Indonesian Tea. This was all before 4pm.

The first gala night was nice.  Saw some tuxes but mostly suits for the men.  The food was exceptionally good.

Since my cold is hanging on I called it a day at 9pm.

Tomorrow is our first port, Corner Brook New Foundland.

Discovery of the day:  As a 4-star Mariner, I get 50% discount at the Exploration Cafe. I was pleased to see they stock bottled water now.

  1. It has been a cold summer in Newfoundland, so I doubt there are any bugs to be concerned about, unless you are going into the swampy woods.
