August 1, 2015 – Cruising Prince Christian Sund

We entered Prince Christian Sund around 6:30am.  We had running commentary from 6:30 to noon.  It was unbelievable.  Perfect weather sailing past high peaks and icebergs. At 10am, dutch pea soup was served on the outside decks.  I spent most of the time on the bow taking pictures.

It is hard to believe that people Iive here. We passed  a town of 100+ people in the middle of cruising the sound.

Around 2pm we left the sound and entered a very wide icefloe and iceberg field that seemed to go forever.  The ship is only going 2.1 knots and a few icebergs were grazed and the ship gave a little shudder.  It is now 5pm and I still can’t see the end.

Yesterday and today were so beautiful and full of amazing sights.  This is a cruise every person should take.  Words and pictures only tell part of story. The blue under the icebergs is the part under water.

At noon our clocks went forward another hour.  We are now at UTC -1.00.

Tomorrow is a sea day as we head towards Reykjavik, Iceland.   I can’t believe that we have already been cruising for a week.

  1. This looks amazing! I’ll be on the Eurodam in September for the Viking Passage and even though the icebergs will more than likely have melted by then, it should still be beautiful. I’m so looking forward to it!
Great photos of your trip…keep them coming!

  2. We did the Sund last yr on the Eurodam sailing through in early Sept We were excited when we saw a few small bergs; Everything was beautiful though and a sight to see. The captain did a 360 in one wide area. Fantastic! Decided this wasn’t a cruise but a life experience. Enjoy.
