August 3, 2015 -Reykjavik

Woke up at 7am and we were 15 miles from Reykjavik.  The Captain was able to make up the lost time.  We were only 1/2 hour late getting off the ship.

40 of us Cruise Critic people had signed up for a Golden Circle Tour.  They split us into 2 groups of 20.   We saw a lot of the area around Reykjavik.  We stopped at the 2nd most powerful waterfall in Europe,  we got to see a geyser blow,  and we went to the rift where on one side you see the end of the European plate and on the other side is the end of the North American plate. We learned alot about Iceland’s history from the guide.

We got back around 5pm.  The port has free internet which you can use for 20 minutes,

I’m staying on board for the evening.   Tomorrow I am going on a puffin tour before we sail out at 1pm

The red doors on the rocks are for the elves.

  1. Today’s photos are amazing. Will you get to see much of the island and what living there is like? I’ve read there is a significant artists community. Something I’ve wondered about.
