August 13, 2015   Brugges, Belgium

Through cruisecritic.com I had signed up to share a taxi from the port into Brugges.  Unfortunately  today 4 of the group didn’t show up.   I ended up having a van to myself on the way in but joined the other 5 for the trip back to the ship.

Zee brugge is the industrial port and is a 15 minute ride to Brugges.   The ship had a free shuttle to the nearest town for those who wanted to take the train to Brugges.

Brugges is a really nice town with many houses from the 1600’s.   I walked around for an hour or so and then took the canal boat ride.  I went to see Michaelangelo ‘s Madonna and child that was one of the art works recovered by the Monument Men.   To end the day I went to the Beer Museum.   This is a very interesting museum. They give you an i-pad that you use to learn more about each exhibit.

I had my favorite Belgian lunch – mussels and fries.

Tomorrow is a sea day as we sail towards Dublin.

  1. I am jealous about the mussels and fries. Yum! We loved Brugges. Their port mucked up and the city went into a decline. No one wanted to conquer or bomb it and Voila!

  2. We did the waffles when we visited. This was the shore excursion where Royal refunded half our fare, because the tour guide hurried off and almost lost us.
