Two friends and I were hoping we could take the Hop on Hop off bus and then walk to the cemetery where the Titanic dead are buried. It turned out that the farthest stop isn’t within walking distance of the cemetery.
We asked a taxi how much he’d charge to take us and bring us back. He said $50 for an hour. We decided to go for it. The cemetery is about a 15 minute drive from the ship. The Titanic burial stones are laid out in the shape of a ship’s prow. My friend Earl recognized some of the names and told us their stories. It started sprinkling as we left the cemetery.
We had the taxi drop us off at the Public Gardens. Everything was in bloom. The gardens are worth going to.
We walked down hill and headed to the Maritime Museum. I had been here before but it is one of those museums where you learn new thing everytime you go. They have a Titanic section that contains things recovered from the ship. There is another section dedicated to the Halifax port explosion.
As we left the museum it started pouring si we headed back to the ship. We had lunch and then went back out separately. I went into the port terminal where there are many little shops. I didn’t buy anything so I went back to the ship to play Trivia.
Tonight was supposed to be our 9th gala night but they changed it to Gala optional. Very few people dressed up.
Tomorrow is Bar Harbor. We will all go through immigration inspection in the morning but we have been told that it should be quick. The Maasdam will be there too and the immigration officers will go there when they are done with us.
I probably won’t blog Bar Harbor until I get home. I will also put out an entry with my general observations about the cruise, the ship, and anything else that comes to mind.
Thx for today’s instalment and all the effort you have put into this. I appreciate it very much! Interesting about the gala optional night.

I just finished reading your fabulous blog, Elsie. Wow, makes me want to do the same on upcoming trips! It was great meeting you and spending some time together on tours. Looking forward to reading the rest of your blog installments. Maybe we’ll meet again on another “Dam” ship!
