December 29, 2015 Bequia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines
As I typed “St. Vincent and the Grenadines”, I thought about how it sounds like a rock group.
Bequia is a small island that is only 7 sq. miles large and is 9 miles from St. Vincent. No chain stores here that we saw on every island up to now. This is a tender port but by 9am tickets weren’t required.
When we got to town we walked to the right for 3 blocks turned and walked 4 blocks the other way until we found the tourism office. There we met 2 men who are visiting the island. They told us to head back to where we started and keep going until we reach a beautiful beach. So we started walking and, sure enough, when we got to the place where we thought town ended there was a path. The path was shaded and ran along the water. We walked up a hill and then down some stairs and under a rock cliff until we came to the beach. It was very beautiful. Since none of us are beach people, we turned around and walked back. We stopped at a restaurant called Gingerbread and had sodas while Earl used the free wifi. We caught a tender and headed back to the ship for lunch.
We met up again at 2pm to watch “Walk in the Woods”. Cute movie. While Robert Redford has aged, Nick Nolte has REALLY aged badly.
We ate at the Le Cirque Dinner tonight. Everything was delicious.
The first day on the cruise I signed up for a pub crawl tonight. By the 9pm start time it didn’t sound as much fun. I went anyway. First, a glass of champagne. (I didn’t drink it). Then a Long Island Iced Tea (I drank that.) Then on to bar #2 for a beer. Bar #3 was a cosmopolitan (I didn’t drink it) Finally bar #4 for a Wang Wang (google it!) I had one sip. I realized early on that I shouldn’t do this which is why I skipped some drinks. For a second I thought I was on a Carnival Cruise.
Tomorrow is a sea day as we head for San Juan Puerto Rico.

  1. Interesting you should mention “St. Vincent and the Grenadines.” I actually saw them in a concert once; they were the backup band for “Trinidad & Tobago,” who were performing in a small college town in upstate New York… I think the place was called Rockport. Your beach adventure in Bequia sounded exciting. (lol) Good thing there are activities on the ship to keep you entertained. How long before you get tired of endless blue sky, aquamarine blue waters, temps in the 80’s and total leisure? Ah, the good life. Thanks for the updates, Elsie.

  2. That was a good movie but you’re right about nick nolte. Too much hard living. Funny comment about the pub crawl. I’ve heard the mixology classes are fun but I’ve never made it to one. Great pictures.
