February 23 to February 25 – Flying to Australia
The flight to Sydney is 14.5 hours. I decided to fly Business Class so I could sleep comfortably. We left SFO at 11:40pm on Feb. 23. At 12:15am they said this would be a good time to reset our watches to 7:15pm. Because of crossing the International Date Line, we will arrive in Sydney at 9am on Feb. 25. So for those of you in the U.S.A. and Canada, I’ll be blogging from the future.
I was given Qantas pajamas to wear and a mattress cover was put on the seat. After dinner I put on my eye mask and fell asleep. I had a solid 2 hours of sleep before waking but fell back asleep again for another 2 hours. I woke at 6am PST, my normal waking time. I think I slept another hour right before breakfast.
I watched 3 movies – Suffragettes, Boyhood, and The Martian.
We got to Sydney early at 8:40am. My next flight isn’t until 1:50pm. I’ll have plenty of time to check in for the flight, get money, and walk around.
I found out that my flight to Hobart leaves from the domestic terminal. To get there you take either a bus or train. I took the bus and it seemed like the international and domestic terminals are 2 to 3 miles apart. I found out that you can’t check in until 3 hours before the flight. Anxious to get rid of my big bag, I checked in at exactly 3 hours before. But you can’t check your bags until 2 hours before the flight.
I should get to Hobart around 4pm. We have a Welcome Dinner tonight and hit the ground running tomorrow.
The picture shows the pajama top and Kate Spade bag that I got in the airplane.
Love reading your blogs. Thank you for taking the time to take us along.

You change in the lavatory which isn’t any bigger than the one in economy. The pj’s are just a light cotton long sleeve tee and pants.
