June 30 – Yellowstone to Jackson
Up and out at 8am (on time!)
First stop was Painted pots area of Yellowstone. Many of the hot springs here are blue. While walking around it started raining and thundering. Being in a forest with tall trees did not seem a good idea so many of us returned to the bus. I was worried about the people with Selfie sticks acting like lightening rods.
We drove to near Old Faithful for a quick restroom break and got there in time to see it go off again.
Last stop in Yellowstone was West Thumb at the end of Yellowstone Lake. There were some areas with beautiful orange runoff going into the lake.
We drove south until we could see the Grand Tetons. We stopped at the Jackson Lake Lodge for lunch, photo stop, and hike.
Next we drove until we got to Jenny’s Lake which gave us even better views of the peaks. We were told that we had two more stops before getting to the hotel. We went first to the Chapel of the Transfiguration. I had been there before and stayed on the bus. Final stop was the Grand Teton Visitor Center. It had a little museum and a large gift shop.
We finally made it to Jackson and the Snow King Resort. Rooms are very nice and we are here two nights. Earl, Linda, and I took the shuttle into town and had pizza. We tried to go to a few stores but everything except souvenir stores were closed. We walked back to the hotel.
Tomorrow is a free day. The three of us are going out to the National Museum of Wildlife Art. The rest of the day will be wandering around town.

  1. I’d been waiting to see where you were staying in Jackson Hole! We visited Snow King (, to appease me since I couldn’t ski) and went up the lift to see the beautiful view. Your pictures are beautiful. I’m really enjoying them, thanks.
