July 1, 2016 – Jackson WY
Today is a free day. Earl, Linda, and I had breakfast and then had the hotel shuttle take us to the National Museum of Wildlife Art. We got there a little before opening and walked around to see the outdoor sculptures.
At 9am we went inside. The museum contains many paintings and photographs of western wildlife. It is a very impressive collection. We watched a movie about Robert Bateman where the artist explained how he painted his work called “Chief” that is a large bison in the mist.
We had lunch at the museum and had the shuttle take us downtown. We wandered around visiting many of the western art galleries in town. At 3pm we headed back to rest before dinner.
We had a nice dinner in town. After checking out a few more stores, Earl walked back while Linda and I took the shuttle.
Got news that one woman on the tour was hospitalized and will be going home. We’ve all been careful to drink lots of water and breathe deeply but I guess the altitude was too much for her.
Tomorrow we leave at 7:45am for Salt Lake City for one night.
