July 7 , 2016 – Monument Valley and Durango
We left Page AZ at 8am headed to Durangio. We were told that this is the longest bus ride day. First stop was a Burger King in Kayenta AZ. As we left, we set our watches forward an hour. Right before we crossed from Arizona to Utah we entered Monument Valley where John Ford made many movies. We stopped at Gouldings for lunch. The Gouldings were responsible for talking John Ford into coming here to film. After lunch we saw the “John Wayne House” from “She wore a Yellow Ribbon ” and walked through the film museum. We were told to use the restrooms before we left Gouldings because the next stop isn’t for 2 1/2 hours.
We stopped at the place where Forrest Gump stopped running in the movie to take pictures.
To pass the time, Leah showed the movie “Secondhand Lions”.
We got to Durango at 6pm.
Tonorrow, most of our group is going to Mesa Verde but Earl, Linda, and I are doing whitewater rafting. Tomorrow night is a visit to and a dinner at a farm.

  1. Wow! Beautiful pics! Does Gouldings still have those great water pitchers on the tables? We bought one for ourselves when we were there many years ago. I think they shipped it to our home.
