September 24 – Bellagio

September 24, 2016 – Bellagio, Italy
We got to sleep late this morning. We met at 9:45am to take the ferry to Bellagio. The ferry ride was 2 hours. it was a beautiful ride as we traveled up the west leg of Lake Como. We all have ear buds and a receiver to hear Silvia, our tour guide. As we sailed, she told us historical facts about the lake. She made sure you point out George Clooney’s villa on the lake.
Brian and I had been here once and it was great to see Villa Charlotte and it’s gardens from the boat. It brought back pleasant memories of our trip.
We got to Bellagio at 12:30pm and had a brief orientation tour. We were told that we had to meet acknowledge at the ferry at 3:30pm but we’re free until then. WJ, Lauranne, Bill, Mary Jo, Carol, and I headed to La Punta, a restaurant overlooking the lake. We had a nice lunch with lively conversation.
We headed back into town. Carol and I went shopping while the others headed out for a walk.
We got back to the hotel at 6pm and Carol and I went out to split a pizza and salad for dinner.
Tomorrow we head to Stresa on Lake Maggiore for the main part of our trip. We will be joined by 11 new people who didn’t sign up for the pre-trip. Before heading to Stresa, we have a tour of Milan.
