October 4, 2016 – Jenbach to Achensee to Scholastica
This morning Simona took us on a walking tour of Seefeld. We are now well equipped with the information about where to eat, drink good beer, shop, and do laundry.
We had lunch on our own but most of us ended up at the same cafe. Carol had pumpkin soup and I had cheese dumpling soup. We split a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Everything was delicious.
At 1:45pm, the 20 of us that signed up for the Austrian Afternoon optional tour left by bus with Simona. We drove past Innsbruck to Jenbach. We boarded a steam cog train that took us slowly up a mountain to Achensee. We then got on a boat on the lake and sailed around the lake to Scholastica. The weather was cold (40s) and rain threatened. We took a quick walk along a path by the lake and then went for a early (5:30pm) traditional Tyrolean dinner. We had salad, and large potato pancake covered with ham and cheese. Dessert was a cake with jellied berries on top. It was very good.
We got back to our hotel at 8:45pm.
Tomorrow we ride the train to Innsbruck where we will have a guided tour and have a discussion on “Women in World War 2”.

  2. Jet says… overcast and cool here too. Hoping for warm spots in the sun in the coming days. All’s well otherwise!
Great stories and pictures, especially when you’re in them!
