October 8 – Munich

October 8, 2016 – Munich
We left Seefeld at 9am. It was a rainy 2+ hour ride to Munich. We walked to Marienplatz arriving just as the famous glockenspiel finished its noon show. We the had a lunch of wurst, sauerkraut, and mashed potatoes. After walking back to the bus we headed to our hotel (Holiday Inn) arriving at 3pm. Carol and I decided to wander the area around the hotel. Before going out I asked at the front desk about how long the taxi ride to the train station would take in the morning. SIURPRISE – the marathon is tomorrow. We were told to take the subway because a taxi would have trouble getting through the marathon route. So we followed directions and found the S-Bahn station near the hotel and bought tickets for tomorrow.
We had our last dinner as a group. One person is leaving at 4 am but most have a transfer to the airport between 7am and noon. Carol and I have decided to go to breakfast at 6:30am and leave for the train station around 7:15am.
I am not sure if I’ll blog tomorrow. Our train arrives in Berlin around 3pm and we need to find our hotel. If the weather is good we will do some sightseeing. We might just take the Hop On Hop Off bus to get our bearings.
