January 7, 2017 – Puerto Limon, Costa RIca
This morning I got up early to have breakfast before my tour. Linda and I met up in the theater at 8:15am. They finally called our tour at 8:40 and we proceeded to two mini buses. It took about 1 1/2 hours to get to the Jaguar Rehabilitation Center. We had been told in advance that they didn’t have any jaguars. They rehabilitate and release back into the wild many animals. We saw toucans, parrots, anteaters, sloth, and monkeys. If an animal is injured in a way that they can’t be released, the center will keep them for their lifetime. We saw a brown pelican with a broken wing (named Pistachio) that is a favorite of the staff. There were many young people who volunteer at the center.
From the center we went to the jungle preserve where they release animals. We had a nice hike through the jungle. We had lunch in the middle of the preserve. We got chicken, beans and rice, and salad. It was filling.
On the bus ride out of the preserve, the driver stopped for us to get pictures of a family of howler monkees in the trees. We got back at 2:45pm so we beat the 3:30pm all aboard time.
At 4pm we once again played trivia. My favorite question (which we got right) was “What company was formed in 1945 by combing the names of Harold Mattson and Elliott Handler?” Once again we did not win.
My cold seems to be progressing quickly. Hopefully I will will be better by Monday.
At Pub Trivia we came on 3rd. The hardest question was What was the name of the IBM computer that played chess against the world champion? We though it was Watson but the answer was Deep Blue.
Tomorrow morning we will transit the Panama Canal starting 5am. Early to bed tonight!

I am enjoying your posts and pictures. My husband and I will be taking this cruise next January. We are really looking forward to the trip and more so after hearing of your adventures.
Hope you’re feeling better.

That looks like an interesting place. Great pictures. When you go to the Galápagos Islands, do you stay on land or on a boat? Looking forward to seeing those pics. Glad to hear that you are feeling a little better.
