January 15, 2017 – Lima, Peru
Today’s excursion didn’t start until 10am so Linda and I met to have a leisurely breakfast. I ordered Banana Bread French Toast. I was surprised when it came and it had been coated in dry oatmeal. It tasted good and was probably healthy buy looked strange.
Our tour was ” Walking Tour of Plaza Armas”. It took 1/2 hour to get into central Lima. We walked for 1 /2 hours around the colonial part of the city. We went into 4 different Cathedrals. I had never been on a tour before that allowed us to go into a church while mass was being performed. We were told to just not go down the center aisle. Very strange. We ended at the main square where the government building was doing their changing of the guard. We stopped at a restaurant for a soda, juice, or beer. As we came out there was a religious parade going on. We got to see a lot on this tour.
We were back at the ship at 2pm . I went up to the Dive-in for a quick hot dog.
We played trivia at 4pm and 7pm but didn’t win either time. Hardest question was What English philosopher and chemist discovered Oxygen? ” We didn’t even have a guess.
Tonight we finally move off EST and move the clocks forward an hour. Tomorrow is a sea day and I will have a very busy day.

  1. Enjoying reading your travel blog. It brings back memories of our trip to Peru and Ecuador. Are you finding a lot of differences onboard regarding a grand voyage vs. a regular longer cruise like the VoV? More activities? Food variety? Gifts? Hope your cold is getting better. Have fun!

  2. That banana bread French toast is my fav breakfast now. It’s strange since I’m not fond of banana bread or French toast. Love hearing about Lima.
