January 19, 2017 – Coquimbo, Chile
Our travel agency, Cruise Specialists, offered us a free tour in Coquimbo and La Serena. About 30 of went on this 4 hour tour. The traffic driving through town was awful. At least 2 hours of the 4 hour tour was just getting from one place to another. First we went to a scenic overlook for pictures. Coquimbo was hit by a tsunami in 2015. As we drove, the guide would tell us stories about the tsunami. After going to a crafts market and the university, we stopped at a restaurant for a snack. We each got a cracker with pimento spread, an empanada, and a small piece of chicken on a toothpick. Overall, this was a disappointing tour.
Back on the ship we played and lost at trivia. By dinnertime I wasn’t feeling well. I went to bed at 8pm and slept 10 hours.
January 20, 2017 – Valparaiso, Chile
I was supposed to go on an 8 hour to Santiago today but have decided to stay behind to hopefully get over this cold. I spent the day sleeping on and off while watching the inauguration on TV.
Tomorrow is a Sea Day so I probably won’t blog.

Hope you get to feeling better, Elsie! Enough with this cold. Think staying back and resting was a good choice. Sending get well wishes and hugs!

Rest is good. Feel better soon! Sorry the tour was bad. Sometimes I think they just throw something together so there is a ‘tour’ whether there is much to see or not. Traffic! ugh.
