February 10, 2017 – Buenos Aires, Argentina
A little background first, Brian and I spent time in Buenos Aires in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008. I wasn’t sure how I would handle coming back. It turned out fine because the city has changed tremendously in the last 9 years. Downtown is crowded with new tall buildings. The signage for the Subte (subway) is much better. They have increased the number of pedestrian streets.
My tour today started with a bus tour of the highlights of Buenos Aires. I enjoyed seeing the differences and seeing some familiar places. We drove through the parks in Palermo and it brought back good memories of us walking there. The funniest sight was 10 to 12 window cleaners on the side of one of the tall buildings. Each was on his own line but they were spread across the building at the same level.
We went to a restaurant where we had choriopan. Which is a small sausage sandwich served as a snack. We then moved to another restaurant where we had lunch. First we had a beef empanada. Next was grilled provolone with olive oil and oregano. This was really good. Then they brought wooden platters loaded with skirt steak, french fries, and orzo. Finally they brought more wooden platters with sirloin steak, french fries with a fried egg on top, squash, orzo, grilled onions and peppers, and spinach salad. Our final stop was a heladeria – an ice cream shop. I had dulce de leche. it was very good.

  1. I’m so glad you enjoyed your return visit to Buenos Aires. It is really a beautiful city in so many ways. I remember the huge sculpture! Continue to enjoy your trip and all the good food. (Good choice on the ice cream. We had the best ice cream ever there!) Always look forward to your posts.

  2. You know, I wondered where you “hung out” when you and Brian went to Buenos Aires years ago. Turns out that Nico stayed in the Belgrano neighborhood, adjacent to Palermo, when he was there in the summer of 2015.
