February 11, 2017 – Punta del Este, Uruguay
Linda and I took a tender in and arrived at the dock at 11am. We got a walking tour map and set out to follow it. We walked along the walkway that goes along the beaches facing Rio de Plata. We crossed downtown to get to the famous memorial to people who have drowned. It shows the tops of fingers sticking up through the sand. After this we followed the walkway along the Atlantic Ocean until we got to the tip of land where the two bodies of water meet. We also walked through the main street where the stores and restaurants are. We had lunch in town before heading back to the ship. We walked 6.5 miles around the town.
The next 2 days are sea days. We arrive in Rio on February 14. I have arranged a private tour for Linda and I for the day and a half that we are in Rio.
We will start having lectures on sea days about the Amazon. I am looking forward to them.
