September 25, 2018 – Olympia, Greece
The port is actually Katakolon, Greece. There is an MSC ship also here today.
At 9:15am, I came up to the top deck to enjoy my cabana. Julius, my cabin boy, introduced himself and showed me to my cabana. There was a basket of fresh fruit and an ice bucket with large bottles of Evian water. I laid down, put in my earbuds, and feel asleep listening to Leonard Cohen. I woke up refreshed 45 minutes later.
I have a view of the marina and the town. It is hot out today so I’m glad I am in my covered cabana. At noon Julius took my lunch order. Oh this is the LIFE! I finished a book and did the NY Times crossword puzzle.
I got an email from my hotel in Florence with walking directions from the train station. Very nice touch. I realized that my vacation isn’t even half over and I feel like I have done so much. Well, not today, but most days.
Trivia note – The Cruise Director said they are getting rid of the itinerary pins given as prizes. Soon there will be no prizes because “you are playing for fun.” And here I thought it was serious competition.
I returned to my cabin at 3pm to shower. Tonight I went to the Rudi’s Sel de Mer dinner in the Pinnacle Grill. I had foie gras appetizer, rack of lamb, and souffle. Everything was delicious. When I got back to my cabin there was a plate of chocolates from the restaurant,
We got informed tonight that we are skipping Mykonos, Greece due to rough seas. We will change our sea day from Sept. 28th to the 27th. On the 28th we will stop in Catania, Sicily.
It is very rough tonight and for the first time I have put on a sea sickness patch.
Tomorrow we are in Souda, on Crete.
