March 4 & 5, 2019 – Getting to Barcelona
I left my apartment in Pleasanton at 2:30pm and took BART to Oakland Airport. Check in was quick and after security I headed to the business class lounge. They started boarding at 4:30pm and we took off at 5:45pm … right on schedule. The flight was pretty smooth. I think I slept 3 hours. We landed 30 minutes early at 1pm. Unfortunately, my checked bag didn’t come out until 2pm. I easily found the driver who took me to the hotel.
The hotel is the H10 Universitad by the University of Barcelona. After time to rest, our tour leader, Christina, took us on a short hike to give us an orientation to the area near our hotel. There are 36 of us on the three day pre-trip tour. We are divided between 2 tour leaders. On Friday the main tour starts.
By 7pm when our walk ended I couldn’t decide if I was more tired or hungry. I got a to-go container of pasta and sauce from a restaurant across from the hotel. I was falling asleep while eating so I went to sleep at 8pm. It is now 1 am and I am awake but hoping to be able to sleep a few hours more.
Tomorrow, we will go to Park Guell created by Gaudi.
