March 9, 2019 – Barcelona
We had a nice dinner on board the ms Corinthian last night. The crew is great and some of them already know my name.
We started the day with a bus tour around Barcelona,. I had seen the places on the route before so nothing great except for seeing the start of a race below us from the palace on top of Mont Juic. We then took a walk through the Gothic section of Barcelona. This was also a repeat for me so I took off and wandered on my own until the meet up time.
We had a delicious lunch downtown, They started with Cava and apple slices stuffed with foie gras. The salad was a huge greens, tropical fruit, and prawn salad. The entree (for those who had any room left) was shredded beef and mushrooms with scalloped potatoes. Finally dessert was mint chocolate chip ice cream. We were all ready for a siesta but next up was a visit to Sagrada Familia.
Just in the 6 months since I last saw Sagrada Familia it has changed. The goal is to finish by 2026, the 100th anniversary of Gaudi’s death. I don’t think you can ever be bored seeing it. Every place I looked I saw something I hadn’t noticed before. Definitely the crown jewel of a visit to Barcelona. It was a bright sunny day in Barcelona and the light coming through the stained glass windows colored the white walls inside the church. It was beautiful to see.
At 4:30pm we sailed out of Barcelona. We are now on our way to Valencia.
We had the Captain’s welcome dinner tonight. So far the food is really good. I have started ordering half portions to minimize the weight gain.
After dinner the group leaders played the Liars Game. They each told a story th o define a word and we had to figure out who was telling the truth. It was really fun.
