March 13, 2019 – Mijas and Malaga
Today is sunny again with a forecast high of 74°.
We left at 9am heading to Mijas Puebla which is located at an elevation of 1760 ft above sea level. The population is 77,000. The town sits on a hillside and is populated with all white houses. The streets are steep and many have staircases running between them. We were given 2 hours to roam around. Three of us walked and shopped for 1 1/2 hours until we felt we had seen everything. It was cooler and the wind was very strong. Finding relief from the wind was impossible.
While standing on the steps of a grocery store, a car drove up and parked on the steps forcing us to move. I guess she needed to allow space for another car to pass. We were surprised by the way she drove the car right at us .
Back at the ship we had lunch. I relaxed until 4pm when one of the tour leaders took some of us out for a power walk.
There is another OAT ship, CLIO, with a tour that left Barcelona a day after us. It was docked next to us in Malaga. They gave me a tour. It is slightly smaller than the CORINTHIAN but seems to have more public space.
Tomorrow is Tangier, Morocco.

What a beautiful city as reflected in your great pictures. While roaming around did you happen upon Picasso’s birthplace?

Yes, the guide pointed out the buildings where his parents had apartments as he grew up.
