March 23, 2019 – Obidos
We headed out at 8:30am for Obidos which is an hour away. The bus ride was enjoyable. There was beautiful scenery and Francisco told us about Obidos.
Obidos is a medieval town that a King gave to his bride when they married. This meant that the taxes collected went to the Queen rather than the King.
The town is surrounded by the medieval ramparts. Only one of our group was brave enough to go up. Peggy, 84, is the oldest of the group. She had no problems. A woman coming down in front of her though hugged the wall and rested every 4 steps.
Back in Lisbon, everyone started packing. . We had a farewell dinner close to the hotel. Tomorrow most of the group fly home with the earliest flights leaving at 5am so the evening ended early.
I am flying to Barcelona at 2pm and staying at a hotel by the airport. On Monday I’ll be on a direct flight to Oakland and hope to be home by 8pm.
I’ll do a summary when I get home.

I really enjoyed following along! Hope you have a safe trip home. In a few days I have a looong trip from Boston to Shanghai for OAT ‘s Imperial China. No talent for blogging, unfortunately!

The flight is 12 hours long. Not as bad as Australia.
