June 12, 2019 – Wrangell
We arrived in Wrangell at 7am.  It was raining and 55°. My excursion “Premium Glacier Discovery ” started at 7:30. Nine of us boarded a jet boat which could have held more. I got to sit upfront next to the captain. The windows all slid open so we could take pictures without getting the camera wet. We crossed Stikine River heading to the LeConte Glacier. We passed many icebergs and ice floes. The harbor seals have been having their babies so we saw many ice floes with the mom and her pup. We sailed very close to the Glacier and saw many waterfalls. At the Glacier we were offered smoked salmon, cheese, crackers, and wine. I highly recommend this excursion.
Glacier snow and ice as it compresses and air is forced out shows as a blue color. Today we saw 2 icebergs that were extremely dark blue. The guide said he thought they had just flipped to be that blue.
Tomorrow we are cruising the Canadian Inside Passage.
