October 11, 2019 – Raleigh, North Carolina
After breakfast Carol and I headed to downtown Raleigh. We went to the History Museum which had a special exhibit on Toys from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. It was great fun. I recognized all 50’s and 60’s toys while Carol was better on the 60’s and 70’s. The most amazing thing to me was the Davy Crockett Coon Skin Cap that had fake eyes and nose in the front.
The museum had other exhibits that were also interesting. We saw exhibits on Quilting, History of North Carolina and the NC Sports Hall of Fame. After 1 ½ hours we left the museum and headed to the church where Carol got married in 1986. It was difficult to get into the church but we finally found a back door that was open. The receptionist inside told us that since they had children ane seniors during the day that the doors are locked for protection. Obviously, we looked safe so she took us on a tour of the church.
We drove back to a Mediterranean restaurant where we had Falafel on Pita bread and salads.
Back at Carol’s house we worked on getting her new PC up and running. At 6pm Tom, Carol, and I went out for dinner at a local Italian restaurant.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane in toy town. My granddaughter can’t believe the original Mr. Potato Heads were real potatoes. I loved that guy!
