October 15, 2021- Cascais and Sintra
I discovered this morning that I lost my hat yesterday.
We left the hotel at 9am and headed to the coastal town of Cascais. This was a fishing village which became a royal getaway 2 months a year. Now it is a resort town. We walked around and saw many impressive homes. We walked around and saw many impressive homes. We got to walk through a park with a large population of roosters, chickens, baby chicks, ducks, ducklings, and turtles. It was recommended that we stop for ice cream at the same shop I went to 2 years ago.
Next we went to Sintra. The Sintra National Palace was used by the royal family the 2 months before going to Cascais. Our tour included going through the palace. Since I had seen it in 2019, I decided to skip the tour. Carolyn went on the tour and enjoyed it..
After a light lunch of duck risotto, we had an hour to roam around town. I ended up buying 2 different style hats made of Portuguese cork.
Tonight we are dining with a local family which I’ll write about tomorrow. We will get back late tonight and we leave Lisbon tomorrow for Evora, Portugal. Tonight we repack.
