October 19, 2021 – Carmona and Seville
Six of us signed up to go to Seville for the day. We left Carmona at 9am and arrived to meet our local guide, Manolo, at 10am. He had the bus take us past some of the buildings left from the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. Many Central and South American countries had buildings as well as the United States. We got off the bus to see Plaza de Espana, the Spanish building. It is long, beautiful with alcoves for every province. There are bridges over a waterway and a large fountain.
At noon we headed to the center of town and walked through many narrow roads until we arrived by the Cathedral. This is the 3rd largest Cathedral in the world. Christopher Columbus is buried here. It has many rooms and Chapels.
After the Cathedral , Carolyn and I walked around the area and found a small Cafe for lunch. We sat at an outside table and split a Mediterranean Salad and Sea Bass with Vegetables. Both were delicious.
We met up with our group at the meeting place at 3:20pm. We had to walk to the river to board our bus because they aren’t allowed in the center of town.
Before our walk to dinner we already have walked 5 miles.
I’m not sure whether I have mentioned the heat to you but every day since arrival has been in the upper 80’s. Today hit 90°. We keep hoping this unusual October weather will end.
Dinner was at a local restaurant and was 4 tapas plates and dessert. OK food .
Between Seville and walking to and from dinner we walked 6.66 miles. We are both tired.
Tomorrow we head to Ronda after stopping at a bull farm.
