October 24, 2021 – Ubeda to Toledo (not Ohio)
We left our last paradore and set out for Toledo. Our first stop was at Casa Pepe which during the Franco area was considered a very pro-Franco cafe. I have a picture of a hand gel that they sell. The label translates to “protects from the virus, Mr Sanchez (the President of Spain) and all bands of communists and separatists”.
We also got to see the famous windmills from the story of Don Quioxte of La Mancha.
Right before entering the city we stopped at a view point to take a picture of the whole city. It was a beautiful view. Our hotel is right in the center of town. Not as nice as the paradores but convenient.
After getting our rooms and luggage we had to get a quick lunch before a city tour.. Carolyn and I decided to have McDonald’s. The walking tour was 2 hours showing us the major areas of the city.
In the evening we had a cheese tasting. The area we are is called Mancha so we had 3 types of Manchega cheese accompanied by a glass of vino tinto.
After I had a few beers and tapas in an outdoor cafe.
Tomorrow we visit Madrid.
